page 12 NORTH LEEDS LMTEM OLIVET U.C.W. Members met at the home of Mrs. Alice Bryan, Nov. 7. Acting Pres. Betty MacPherson opened the meeting with prayer 8: a poem "Life's Receipt". The theme was "Hope for our Tomorrow". Velma Dorman conducted the Worship 8: the meditation with help from Flo Moroughan 8: Freda Tempest. Much benefit could be gained from Velma's devotions. Linda Mainse closed with a most thoughtful prayer. Offering was received and dedicated. Minutes and treasurer's reports were read and accepted. Reports told of remembrances to shut-ins; the way the money is used for the Foster child. Discussion re "Alcohol 8: Drug Concerns" 8: a quiz on the use of M.8:S. funds followed. Amy Bracken gave a report on the recent UCW Convention in Kingston. The meeting closed with Prayer 8: a social hour with lunch was enjoyed by all. ST. PETER'S A.C.W. Seeley's Bay The November meeting was held at the home of Darlene Thompson. The meeting opened with the invocation, scripture readings and meditation. All members joined in with prayer. Minutes were read 8: approved 8: roll call was taken. Correspondence consisted of thank you notes, letter from Marjorie McIntyre 8: a request for a donation from the Red Cross. Mary Dean presented the treasurer's report followed by the business meeting. A report on the area ACW meeting held in Brockville last month was given. Fare Share offering to be in by the end of December and personal thank offerings to be in to the treasurer by the end of April'85. Christmas baskets to be distributed to shut-in families again this year. A request for more prayer 8: meditation to be included in our meetings was presented. Taste samples of the Christmas puddings, which the ACW will be selling, along with a discussion as to which sample would be best was conducted. The meeting closed with membership prayer followed by refreshments. The next meeting will be a Christmas party for all members of St. Paul's church, to be held at Charlotte McConnell's on Dec. 12/84 with pot-luck supper to begin at 6:00 p.m. "MERRY CHRISTMAS, everyone, from ST. ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION Br. # 491 Seeley's Bay A DAY TO REMEMBER To the swirl of bagpipes 8: the beat of drums, members, Veterans 8: friends marched through the rain to remember 8: honour those who laid down their lives in the past wars for the Peace of the whole world. The Veterans were joined by members of Lyndhurst 8: District Scouts 8: Cubs, memebrs of Seeley's Bay Fireman's Assoc., and the local Lions Club. Taking part in the Colour Party 8: Parade were also members of the Ladies Aux. Part of the Pipe 8: Drum Corp of R.M.C., Kingston took part in the Parade which was under the charge of Parade Marshal Com. Don Charboneau. Marching to St. Peter's Anglican Church, the Colours were placed in front of the Church by Father Jim Dalyrimple. After a meaningful sermon relating to not only Remembrance but also the state of the world today, the regular service was followed by the Legion Service conducted by Chairman Com. Bill Nolan. Legion prayer, Last Post, Reveille 8: the Lament by the R.M.C. piper preceded the Honour Roll read by Com. Ralph Sweet. Wreaths were then laid. Ontario Wreath Com. The only correspondence was a letter from Zone Pres. Winston Gifford which informed of his upâ€"coming retirement and that an election will be held in Brockville to name his successor. No members will be able to attend from the group. Treasurer's report was read and accepted. It was moved that $25.00 be sent to the Red Cross Homemakers. It was moved that the offer of a rug, to be booked by Mrs. Poerier, be accepted. The Ladies Legion Auxiliary asked that their Charter be hung in the downstairs room. The request was granted. Everett Elliot was appointed to preside over the election of officers.
