page 8 ELGIN [LIES SEEMS RIDEAU SWEEPS FOUR IN "A" BASKETBALL The Rideau Lions swept both their games in junior and senior play against Athens Warriors and Grenville Christian. College. In Senior play, Rideau toppled Grenville Christian 58-38 and dumped Athens 55-31. Ian Little topped Rideau with l9 points against Grenville Christian with Dwayne Myers adding 16 and Steve Sharpe hitting 10. Tim Haig and Mark Chenier had 10 points each for Grenville Christian. Against Athens, Little led Rideau with 20 with Sharpe at 16 and Myers hetting 14. Athens was led by Blaine Pilatzke with seven. In junior play, Rideau downed Grenville Christian 54â€"53 in holding off a late rally while blasting Athens 46-28. Mark Little and Tim Seed each had 18 points for Rideau in the win over Grenville Christian. Tom Dodds added 12. MacNeil popped in 19 for GCC. The final tournament before play- offs begin is slated for North Grenville in Kemptville next Tuesday. Playoffs will start on Thursday. RIDEAU GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL ATHENS TOURNAMENT The Rideau Lions finished in top spot in both LGSSA "A" junior and senior girls volleyball action re- cently. Rideau defeated Sharbot Lake in the senior standing and North Grenville in the junior standings. Both of these games were won by one point. NAPANEE INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT The RDHS seniors girl's volleyball team ran away with the championship at the invitational tournament in Napanee on Feb. lath. In the round robin, they won 7 out of 8 games losing one game to Gananoque. They beat Nap- anee 2 games to O in the semi-finals, and went on to win the finals with scores of 15-3, 15-h against Ganan- oque. Other schools attending were Belleville, Athens, Napanee and Gan- anoque. Congratulations goes out to every mem~ ber of the team for her superior ef- fort and excellent spirit.
