page h ST. PETERS A.C.W. SEELEY'S BAY Our April meeting was held at the home of Ann Morris. After a very enioyable luncheon the meeting opened with a half hour study on "Missionll with each member taking turn in reading . The minutes for March were read and approved, roll call was taken with nine members and one guest attending. Rita Jones gave a report on the Parish Council meeting which was held March 30th at the rectory. The Church secretary asked if our A.C.W. would pay for cleaning of the church attic, it was moved by Mari Bradley and seconded by Jennie Goodier that this be paid. Marg Tuggy was paid for cups and it was moved by Mir] and seconded by Charlotte McConnell that JU ne Goodwins pay bills when they come due. June gave the treasurer's report. OLIVET U .C .W. On April lst, Mrs . Flo Mouroughan welcomed l9 members to her home for the monthly meeting. Acting Pres. Mrs. Betty MacPherson opened the meeting with prayer, asking for guidance and inspiration in our christian life. An excellent worship and study on Easter was conducted by Mrs. Frances Bryan and Mrs. Linda Mainse. Mrs. Mainses' study from "History of Mary Magdalene" was nost interesting and informative . The minutes were read by Mrs. Amy Bracken . Reports were given from Sick and Visiting Committee , Leprosy Foundation and Foster Children.The "Bible of the monthll went to Etheopia in March. Money was collected for the disabled and for the birthday box. The food basket has been stopped and income tax forms were given out. The apron is still being passed around. Mari did very well on the order for cards. We will be having tickets made for the quilt to sell at 50 cents or 3 for $l.00. Ethleen Tye and Elsie Willoughby did some visiting .‘o the sick. Everything is under control for the auction sale. We are catering to a wedding on May 30th with a turkey dinner. lt was moved by Riita and seconded by Mari that the donation Mildred Hudson gave would go towards the organ . Offering was again dedicated by Mrs. Ada Cooke after her absence of several months. The Treasurer's report included a donation from the family of the late Mrs. Florence \lanLuven . New business dealt with plans to meet the regular expenses of the Church as well as toward the Organ Fund. Subscriptions for the Observer were accepted . Plans to rent two tables at the Seeley's Bay Fair on May 2nd were discussed- Decision was made to hold a Bake Sale at Tony's service station on May 23rd at 9.30 a.m. with home baking, plants, etc . for sale. The meeting ended with prayer. Mari moved a vote of thanks to the hostess and her committee. The next meeting will be held on May 6th at Marg Tuggys' . A. a J. Mrs. Linda Horsey, as hostess wel- comed the members of Seeley's Bay U.C.W. to the April meeting. The Easter meditation was given by Hilda Simpson and Mabel Cameron. Joy- ous Easter hymns were sung and the offering received and dedicated. The president, Hilda Simpson, preâ€" sided for the business meeting. The treasurer's report showed a nice balance and the card convenor report- ed cards had been sent to those in hospital. Subscriptions for the United Church Observer are now due. Further plans were made for the "Spring Festival Fair" to be held in the Sunday School rooms on May 2nd, from lO a.m. to 4 p.m. All members are urged to bake and bake and bake, and to remember the 'odds & ends' table as well. Tell everyone so it will be a successful event for us, and for those who have rented a table for their various crafts. There will be a canteen featuring sandwiches, hot dogs and all kinds of desserts. The program on the mission study was "Partners in the Gospel". We share with other denominations in assisting other countries who need teachers, doctors, agricultural help, etc. There is concern for immigrants all over the world, and for their children who do not have the advantage of schooling. How can we urge those in control that there must be justice for all? A delicious lunch was served with Valera Hartley as convenor, and a social time enjoyed.
