page 6 swears CORNER’S SCHOOL GRADUATION AT SWEET'S CORNERS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL "This evening I couldn't help noticing that the graduates chose to sit with their parents rather than apart as a separ- ate group. This is a good in- dication of what kind of young people you are." So remarked Mr Tomkins Director of the Leeds and Grenville Board of Education to the assembled guests and students at Sweet's Corners Elementary School Graduation. On June 16th, approximately one hundred and fifty people enjoyed a sit-down dinner pro- vided and served by the stu- dents of Grade Seven and their mothers. Dinner was served banquet style in the school gym beautifully decorated by the students and teachers of the junflbr classes, with streamers and flowers in a green-white-yellow theme. Following the meal tables and chairs were re-arranged for the graiuation ceremony. The procession was accompanied by Mrs Iva Sweet at the piano: Each of the graiuates wore a co-ordinating corsage or bou- tonniere handcrafted by Mrs Mary Dean, and given by the school as a keepsake. Mrs Dorothy Davies, our Trustee and Guest speaker, gave an in- formative talk on the subject of 'Time', and urged the grad- uates to use it wisely during their High School career. The Valedictorian Brian Bennett, paid tribute to his teachers and had us all reminiscing and laughing about the past eight years at Sweet's Corners. During the dance provided by "Sounds Around" of Peter Jardine and Company, parents, teachers and students spent an enjoyable time socializing and dancing. A Special word of thanks is ex- tended to all guests, parents, teachers and students who helped' to make this special event such a memorable occasion.
