LIBRARY PROGRAMMES WELL RECEIVED Students from grades 6,Z&8 from Sweets Corners Public School, South Crosby Public and Portland Public attended the library sponsored programme "Lyons Dance Troupe" held at the Sweets Corâ€" ners School. The students saw and heard the history of the Objibway Indians as presented by Richard Lyons, his wife, and son,Brian and Jean-Pierre, a dancer. In colourful native dress, Richard ex- plained the Indian Staff (native flag) and asked all to rise while Brian playâ€" ed the drum and sang their National An- them. Richard explained the relationship that his people have with nature and how their dances are often imitative of an mals and bird movements. He was joined in dances by his wife and Jeanâ€"Pierre and showed how the dances related to their liveS, in hunting, tracking and fighting. Richard stated that other than courtShip dances, the woman dances on one spot while the man moves all aâ€" round. This is to show the strength of the woman as the centre of the home and family. This informative and spectacular show should help our young people gain a truer perspective of our native people. Elgin School hOsted the appearance of Jan Rubes and Margaret Zeidman in World of Music for Children. Jan guided the children through the various steps needed to produce music â€" from the first (fictional) use of voice, breath- ing, beat and pitch. He and Margaret illustrated each step with a multitude of short songs in 5 languages. They enâ€" couraged and received much audience participation. Jan intrigued the adults and children alike with his Victor Borge-like rendition of Gransel & Hetel (Spoonerism). Throughâ€"out this fascinâ€" ating performance, Jan and Margaret played piano, harp and guitar with a variety of percussion instruments far-«smalls; played by the children. The whole audience responded to this funny, warm and talented gentleman. Only one complaint was heard.."I wish they could go on longer". Mr. Rubes and Ms Zeidman commented that this audience was one of the best that they had performed for, in behavior, “Custom Line" Double Hung Tilt Window 0 “tilt-in“ convenience lor easy cleaning I positive balance system forfeather-light operation “Econo-guard“ Slider Window 0 picture window beauty with insulating glass convenience 0 removable glass sections for easy cleaning DASHWODD INDUSTRIES LIMITED Canada‘s first name for fine windows and doors WiNoow SHOPPING?
