Interest and enthusiasm remains high as witnessed by the good turn out. The Chairman, Linton McConville extended a cordial welcome ., to all and advised that the purpose of the meeting was to review the financial situation and to continue discussion on plans for the 1982 celebrations. The Treasurer, Robert McManus, presented a financial statement showing a breakdown of recei ts and expenditures to date. The balance as of Oct 26/81 was 1,950.00. 3 Alex Ross, Chairman of the Beautification Committee, presented ‘ a detailed report of the work done on the Dunollie Park and the work planned for the spring. His estimate to complete the project is approx. $1,000.00. The object of his committee is to create a floral i garden on the property of Mr & Mrs Colin McDougall, in connection ‘ With the 150th anniversary of the Rideau Canal. He also reported that requests have been received for 200 deciduous trees, 32 coniferous i é “*3 trees and 155 shrubs, for planting around the village. VIUJKI SHOP r In the absence of the chairman of the poster contest committee, SAND LAKE MARINE Betty James, Linton McConville reported that the poster contest was well organised. Excellent co-operation had been received from the a fï¬vceeds-RescueEhï¬iPment Principal and staff at the Rideau Centennial School. The contest is to be completed by April 1/82, followed by judging and presentations. The Leeds China Painters are hand crafting medallions for all students participating. While the China Painters are volunteering their service a motion was passed to donate $75.00 to help defray costs of materials Tonbola Chairman, Judy Pattinson, gave an outline of events being considered ex, sports, aquatic events, dances, barbeque, displhy games, ecumenical church service and combined choirs performance. She suggested that we may be trying to cram too much into one weekend and that it may be necessary to schedule some events at other_times. Public Relations and Publicity came under discussion and it was agreed that the Secretary, Joe Raison, look after the publicity and if possible engage a photographer - any volunteers? Claire Myers reported that the Senior Citizens have volunteered to hold an old fashion tea and a display of antiques and quilts, at a time suitable to the committee. A motion was passed to hold a variety show on Friday, May lh/82 at 8:00 p.m., at the Rideau Centennial School. It may include a display of the poster contest and the presentation of prizes. Tom Sled was elected Chairman. Rev Seeley suggested that emphasis should be placed on improving the entire waterway in the form of weed control, clean up and beaut- ’ ification. Some type of educational program might be useful in this regard. This suggestion was passed on to a Central Region meeting held at Smiths Falls on Oct 28/81, and was attended by the Chairman and Secretary. Unfortunately, no commitment was forthcoming. The festivities will commence with the New Years Eve Ball being sponsored by the Hall Board. The next meeting will be held at the United Church, Friendship Room, on Monday, January 18, 1982, at 8:00 p.m. Mark your calendar NOW. Everyone welcome.
