The acting President Mrs. Laurie Mainse remarked on the different interpretations of the Theme "Self Service". The Worship topic, A Time for Confession was taken from the Upper Room, Exchange magazine. This dealt with the real meaning of Ash Wednesday and Lent; a time of withdrawal to look inward and meditate on the hidden "little sins" we have unconsciously allowed to creep into our lives. Lent gives us a time of Preparation for Redemption so we are ready to accept the gift of full salvation. Scriptures from Psalm 56 and Mark 9 were used, Hymn 98, Prayer of Confession and the Benediction closed the Worship Period. The U.C.W. Immediate plans include a Ham supper to be held on April 13 at Olivet Church, a garage sale in May or June of anything and everything saleable. A small auction of home baking with Laurie acting as auctioneer at the close of the meeting, added a fair amount to the treasury.
