ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION Seeley’s Bay Branch 491 The meeting of June 13th, 1984 opened at 20.30 hours with one verse of O Canada and the regular opening ceromonies. The minutes were called for and read and there being no errors or omissions they were moved and seconded and passed as given. Correspodence was either read or filed to be put on bulletin board. Treasurer's report was given and accepted by the floor. Building Chairman reported several small reapairs were finished around the building. He also reported that the renovations to our new Lounge facilities downstairs would be completed in time for the grand opening on July 7th, 1984. After discussion on the floor it was decided to hold a raffle through the summer with the draw to take place on Labor Day, details to be worked out by the committee. There being no further business arising from the floor, the President asked for a motion of adjournment. The meeting ended at 21.35 hours with the Queen. We then joined with the Ladies and enjoyed a social hour. BEVERLEY SCHOOL COMMITTEE The committee met for the final time this year on May 23. Yearâ€"end activities were discussed and dates and times set for graduation. Ted Whiteland outlined the schedule of Field Trips and activities the students will be involved in from now until the final day of school. (June 26) Some such activites are: a field trip to Toronto for senior students, a track and field day involving the whole school and abike rodeo. It was a brief meeting. Ted thanked the school committee members for their moral and financial support over the year and everyone commented on the Changes being made within the School structure for next year. A good summer is wished to all. We look forward to starting 1984-85 with good support from all parents and interested community members. R‘â€" JOHN C. Laura Russell gave the Grace before members 8: guests went to the buffet table for Strawberry Shortcake. A social time was enjoyed as they enjoyed the dessert and coffee. Pres. Bryan conducted the business meeting after the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect had been said in unison. Mrs. Bryan then gave a reading by Edgar Guest called "Teamwork". She thanked everyone for their confidence in appointing her as president. She asked for their support and stated her aims for the up-coming year. Roll call was answered by ideas on: "Don't just talk about what you are going to do...do it and let it talk for itself". 3 guests were welcomed.Minutes were approved and correspondence included a 50th Wedding anniversary card for Mrs. Molony as well as thank you cards from the Bryans re condolences following a death in the family. Convenor of Culture, Mrs. Wilson gave a short report on the museum. All convenors are asked to report at the Sept. meeting. The special committee on the trip reported on a cruise. It was decided to take a cruise from Gananoque during the summer. Members were each asked to contribute a resolution for the program. Secretary to send a letter requesting that the long grass on William St. be cut. Mrs. E. Dougal was surprised at the presentation of her Life Membership pin by Mrs. Sheridan 8: Mrs. Gifford. Mrs. Sheridan took the opportunity to explain the meaning of this honour. Mrs. Dougal thanked those present for their high esteem and regard in giving her the pin. A small auction was conducted by Mrs. Molony 8: Mrs. Matthews received the Hostess gift. There will be a WI bus on June 28/84 Gracious courtesy was expressed to Mrs. Jacques for a very successful meeting. The next meeting will be on Sept. 18/84. Have a good summer. E DELTA U.C.W. Mrs. Diane Kirby hosted the June meeting with Pres. Irma Chant opening with a reading "On a Summer's Day". After welcoming all those in attendance, roll call was answered by 13 members who reported 4 hospital calls & 25 home calls had been made. 3 visitors were also welcomed. Mrs. Hilda Cardiff conducted the Worship using the theme "Beside Still Waters.“ A prayer and hymn followed. Mrs. Laura Russell told a story of sharing before the offering was received and dedicated. A film about the Homelands of South Africa was shown by Mr Kirby which explained the hard life of the migrant worker and his family. Following the business section of the meeting, the Bible-ofâ€"the-Month was sent to Zaire. This project will continue but destinations will be given annually to reduce costs of postage. Closing prayer was given by Mrs. Russell and thanks extended by Mrs. Sweet to the hostess. ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION LADIES AUXILIARY Branch # 2.07, Delta A joint opening was held with Pres. Sawyer in the chair. She welcomed members and Zone Commander Battams 8: companion Comrade Lilly. Roll call was answered by 12 members. Following the minutes and treasurer's report it was mentioned that Comrade Perry was ill and Com. LaForte is improving at home. June 30/84 Bake Sale in the Park at 1:00 p.m. Goods should be brought in before 12:30 p.m. please. Pres. Sawyer thanked those who have helped with recent catering. It has proved successful. Plans were made to purchase an air condit- ioner for the Hall. July let plans for picnic at Sawyers were also made. Pearson The meeting closed followed by a social hour BEVERLEY SENIOR CITIZENS A group of 27 attended the picnic in the Hall and enjoyed a delicious lunch. Pres. Gifford conducted the meeting after opening with the singing of "O Canada". Birthday greetings were sung to Mrs. Howard 8: Mrs. Ford. Mrs. Gifford welcomes all, especially Mrs. Talbot 8: Mr. Aimer. Following minutes, treasurer's report and card report, the new byâ€"laws were distributed with payment of dues. The committee is to arrange for a 1 day 8: 3 day trip for the fall. Arrangements were made for the Rally 8: Pot Luck luncheon at. Lansdowne on June 27/84 Correspondence was read which included information re the Delta Fair along with messages from absent members. Mrs. Gifford reported that Mr. Gifford is improving and he sent his best wishes to all. The following officers were elected by acclamation: Pres. L. Burt, lst Vice M. Aimer, 2nd Vice M. Sweet, Rec.
