page 12 NORTH tears MINER! SEELEYS BAY SENIORS Seventeen members gathered on May 10 for the business meeting which opened with the Lord's Prayer. Freda Tempest read the minutes and Valera Hartley the treasurer‘s report. It was decided how many would attend the June Rally. We were asked by Helen Sweet if we would like to have our June meeting at the New Library and it was agreed that we would. Marjorie McIntyre thanked the Seniors for cards and remembering her while she was ill. It was moved to postpone our bake sale. There was a discussion whether to have our business meetings and pot luck during July and August. It is to be decided at our next meeting. Quite a few of the members are looking forward to the trip to Ottawa on June 22. Our next business meeting is June 14. W. June Goodwins was kind enough to still hold our ACW meeting at her home even tho' her mother was in hospital. 6 members and 1 visitor attended. From the Living Message, Mary Dean read the theme "To Live with It". Charlotte McConnell read from John 20 about the empty tomb and Marjorie Bradley read Hebrews 12 about the witnesses of the Resurrection. After Meditation "God Speaks to us at unexpected times" there was a good discussion. Minutes were read and roll call taken. Treasurer's report was given and "Our Fair Share" collected. A cheque was written to be presented atthe Heathfield Convention. Anyone attending could wear their Centennial dresses as it is the 100th anniversary of the ACW. Additions were made to the Birthday Box and the International Youth Year. A thank you note was received from Helen Sweet for the help at the Dinner held at the Fire Hall. She expressed hope that we would feel free to hold meetings in the new Library Room. Bookings should be made through Helen or Carolyn Jardine. The Church Spring Cleaning will be held Tues. morning, May 28/85. The Rummage Sale, Thurs. May 23, 24 and 25, will be held at St. Luke's Hall, Lyndhurst. Etheleen 8: Mary reported on the discussions held at the council meeting. No decision was made re the purchase of new choir gowns. Cake and cookies were served followed by a vote of thanks to June. A get-well card was signed to be given to her mother.. The meeting then closed with prayer. Kathy deGraf f e chose for her devotional 'Mother' as the theme. Children need her companionship and counselling as they grow. All joined in singing the hymn Happy the Home. The thankoffering was received and dedicated. Freda Davies, president, chaired the meeting, opening with a poem. Roll call was answered by each telling something they admire others doing. A mission flash on Nepal was given, where our missionaries working at a hospital are experiencing new cultures and faith growing fellowships. Minutes were read. Donations for Interval House, Brockville will be delivered soon. Correspondencethank you notes and information re Mandate. Treasurer's report and a report from Presbyterial executive meeting by Gladys Webb. For the next meeting we are reminded to bring used eye glasses and Campbell soup labels. This meeting will be on June 4 at 8 pm in the new Library and there will be a guest speaker. The program was given by Mary Davies on Luke - a Gentile â€" who wrote over 27% of the New Testament.
