page 10 NORTH LEEDS LANTEIN PORTLAND 8: DISTRICT COMMUNITY HALL BOARD The Board met in the Hall on May 8/85 with nine members in attendance. Minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted. Business from minutes: A. Graham to obtain quotations re rental of two toilet units 8: report back at June meeting. Furnace repairs have been carried out at no charge. Custodian Don Burchell was requested to attempt to balance air flow by adjusting air return ducts an closing of washroom doors. EMMANUEL A.C.W. The A.C.W. meeting was held at the home of Reba Bolton with 13 members and one visitor present. The President extended a welcome to all present and thanked Reba for having the meeting in her home. Opening prayers were said in unison. Penny Capell and Margaret Stinson conducted the devotional with scripture reading, the hymn "Fairest Lord Jesus" and the meditation "To Live as If" from the Living Message. April minutes were read and approved. Thankyou notes were received from Hilda Wills and Irene Woods. The treasurer's report was presented. Plans for two banquets were discussed. It was passed that we pay 1/3 share of the cost of a bus to transport our Sunday School children to a Children's Festival in Kingston on May 25/85 Extra quilt blocks were passed to all requesting them for the friendship quilt we are working on. Clara Hull gave an interesting and informative report on the 119 Synod of the Diocese of Ontario held in Belleville on May 2, 3, & 4. Meeting closed with prayer after which a lovely lunch was served by the hostess and lunch directors. HARLEM-CHANTRY U.C.W. Harlem-Chantry UCW held their annual Tea, Bazaar and Bake sale in the Hall at Chantry on May 7. Mrs. Jean Sheffield welcomed the members and guests from various Ladies Groups and read a verse of "This is My Father's House". Mrs. Alice Campbell conducted the worship service, "Let us take time for all things". Hymn "Take Time to be Holy" was sung with Mrs. Marion Seeley at the piano. Mrs. Anna Greenhorn presented a resume of the work involved in preparing the book "My Own Four Walls" for publication. Launching party to be June 14. Mrs. Edna Gile thanked her for the valuable information. Tea and refreshments were served after which a wide variety of home baking, bazaar items, plants and surprise packages were offered for sale, making a very successful afternoon.
