page 12 llorth Leeds Lantern SEELEY'S BAY U.C.W. The hostess, Gladys Webb welcomed members from Lyndhurst and Olivet U.C.W.'s as well as our own members to our October meeting in the C.E. room. Freda Davies, president added her welcome and read a poem on Thanksgiving. Rev. Caroline Turner gave an outline of her personal experience in "Outreach of Our Church", with workshops teaching the basm skills of sewing, cooking, etc. By providing nursery care for children, young mothers are able to get vauainted with others as they attend these workshops. Plans are being made to have these at Seeley's Bay this fall. An excellent devotional on the theme "Thanksgiving" was given by Dorothy Hayes and Myrtle Simpson. The thankoffering was received and dedicated. Thanks to all who helped at the Sectional Rally. The treasurer gave the financial report. A motion was made to sponsor Gladys Webb to attend the Conference on Rural Ministry on Nov. lst Members were requested to send birthday cards to Sarah Moore on her 95th birthday Oct. 26th. On behalf of their members, Linda Mainse and Edna Tye thanked the U.C.W. for their haspitality. There was a time of friendship and social enjoyment while lunch was served. SEELEY'S BAY SENIORS On Sept. 27th the Seniors were invited to Sandy and Doreen Gray's cottage for dinner but the weather didn‘t co- operate so we had it at the Legion Hall. Twenty four members and 2 visitors attended. After dinner we had a singsong followed by cards. On Oct. 11th, 19 members gathered for our Business meeting. Pres. Janet Whitney opened the meeting with the Lord’s Prayer. The minutes were approved as read. The Treasurer's report was read and approved. A thank you note was read from the Mallory family. Bus broehures were presented, anyone wanting to go on these trips were to put their name down. Janet is to look after the bus tours. Milly McFadden is to be Convener of our telephone committee. The quilt has been quilted and we will be selling tickets on it soon. Officers selected for the following year were: Pres. - Theresa Stewart; Sec. â€" Freda Tempest; Treas. - Valera Hartley; Press â€" Beryl Moore. We closed the meeting singing O Canada.
