In the sky I see a dove; A sign of hope from above. Continue our battle, never cease; Until you have won our freedom and peace. In the end no one will win; Many will die from this brutal sin. I've given this war all my best; Now, you fight for our freedom and I shall rest. Pruyn Haskins, Grade 8 Rideau Centennial School Someone Cared I sit here with my pen in hand, Because someone before me took a stand. The willing left their families to fight, Because they knew that freedom is right. They sat in trenches five feet deep, To shelter their lives they wanted to keep. They shot their guns back and forth, They shot to the south; they shot to the north. They conquered Hitler's armies one by one, You have to believe me it wasn't fun. Now you know who fought; you and I, So our country could stand up very high. Jennifer Birt, Grade 7 Rideau Centennial School (Stotfluuf mum/4161110 Limind Box 142 Elgin.
