The ACW of Emmanuel, Portland, held its Christmas Turkey and Ham supper at the home of Doreen Campbell on Wed. Dec. 11/85 at 6:30 p.m. The group invited the husbands and made the party the occasion to celebrate with gifts, the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Auda and Jack Pyington. The ACW also said goodbye to Jane and Geoffrey Cheong, who leave the Parish of the Rideau to go to Australia, to aParish in Melbourne. After dinner, the presents from Secret pals were exchanged, and the men were surprised by also receiving a gift. The business meeting was short, held while the men entertained themselves in the games room. After the business meeting, Doreen Campbell showed slides of the destruction caused by the tornado which passed over the islands in the Big Rideau last summer. Carols included the first Canadian carol. A contest was conducted before the benediction. President thanked everyone for help at the Christmas market. Reports were given and donations made to M&S, including a generous gift from Harlem-Chantry U.C.W., to World Development and Relief, to the Bursary Fund and to the Red Cross. An invitation was received to the World's Day of Prayer service at Newboyne Anglican Church on Mar. 7. The following were accepted as officers for next year: Hon. Pres. Marion Seeley; Past Pres. Gifts of money and clothing are needed for Interval House and Bridge House, both in Kingston. The next meeting will be Jan. 21 at 7:30. assume responsibility for a management lease of the Portland Dock (Government) and apply for an agreement to lease the docking facility.
