Enrollment is up considerably over what was expected and two new classes have had to be created. The present enrollment is 535. Based on student requests from last year, 505 were expected. One noticeable change this year has been the absence of football from the extraâ€"curricular activities." There simply were not enough coaches available to run the program. Student interest has also been declining. However, soccer teams, both boys and girls, are in fall leagues and the school expects to see good results there, as well as in other sports programs. Mr. Tony Darby has been welcomed to the school as the new vice-principal as Mr. Ken Robinson assumes the principalship. Mr. Darby states that he, "finds the Rideau students very friendly and pleasant." PARENTS' NIGHT is coming up on Wednesday, October 9, (not Oct. 10 as mentioned in a letter that went out to students and parents.) All parents of Rideau students are invited to visit the school between 7:30 p.m. and‘9z30 .m.'to discuss their child' ro . Therefore, the students of that grade 10 class have been nominated. The whole school is proud of all the students involved in the program and hope that as many community members as ossibl will u ' . Coach Reddick is pleased to see the response he has received from the girls. Although the sport is new to the school, some of the players have had exposure to the sport.
