10 North Leeds Lantern REAR OF LEEDS AND LANSDOWNE RECREATION SURVEY The Township of Rear of Leeds and Lansdowne would like to thank all those who returned the recreation questionnaire which was mailed out in early July. Your answers and comments will help to determine what will be done about recreation for all ages in the next ten to fifteen years. Also. we would like to thank all of the representatives of the various community and church groups who were interviewed by Miss French. Their suggestions will be taken into consideration as well. The results of the public questionnaires and group interviews are presently being tabulated: a public meeting will be held in the fall to discuss these results [the exact date is. as yet. undecided]. Thank you again for your support. SWEET'S CORNERS SCHOOL COMMITTEE There was a good turnout of 28 people at the September 17th meeting. it was decided to organize movie nights throughout the year as a means of fundraising. The first movie will be shown on Thursday. October 24th as a P.A. day is scheduled for the next day. The committee will be holdoig 3 Bake Sale during the parent interviews again this year. It will take place the evening of Thursday. November 28th and all day Friday. Nov. 29th. It was decided to organize a Skate and Cross Country Ski Exchange on Saturday. October 5th from 10 a.m. to noon. People wishing to sell used skates or skis are requested to bring them to the school previous to Oct. 5th. All equipment should be marked with the name. size and price. This is not a money-making event but a service to the community. Open House is scheduled for Thurs.. Oct. 10th. Mr. Clare. the Principal. announced in particular. that there will be a demonstration and background information provided on cursive writing. LYNDHURST U.C.W. The September meeting of the Lyndhurst U.C.W. was held at the home of Helen Moorhead. The president welcomed everyone and opened the meeting with prayer. Marion Warren was in charge of the devotional. She gave a very interesting reading on the Koreans in Canada. The offering was taken and dedicated. The secretary's report was read and approved and the roll call answered by 15 members. The treasurer's report was read. An invitation to the Seeley's Bay U.C.W. on Oct. lst was read. The Fall Rally will be held in Seeley's Bay on Sept. 25 at 9:00 a.m. Mrs. Major is to give the courtesy remarks. Mary Townsend had a reading on stewardship and Gladys Major had a reading on Missions in Korea. The meeting closed with the repeating of the Benediction. There were 8 members present and one visitor. Father Jim Dalrymple joined us. Ann opened the meeting with the Invocation. The scripture was read by Charlotte and four members read parts of the meditation. The minutes of the June meeting were read and the roll call was taken. Ann gave the treasurer's report. We sold lunches from Mrs. Muriel Smith's Auction sale and we had one successful bake sale. A party and a present was given for Darlene and Jim Thompson on their departure to Verona. The organist was paid for her summer services. Collection for our birthday box and the Year of the Youth jar was well received as were some cheques for the bake sale. Thank yous from Enid and Jim 8: Darlene were received. It was moved that money collected so far for Year of the Youth be turned over to the Church School. Parish of Leedsâ€"Rear Church School is being held in the basement of the Free Methodist Church in Sweets' Corners. We will ask if we can use the new library room for our monthly A.C.W. meetings. We are still looking for a good pattern for new choir gowns. As Camp Hyanto will be renovating the hall this fall, the Rummage Sale will be held at the Conservation Hall in Lyndhurst on Oct. 17, 18 and 19. Church calendars for 1986 are 'now available for sale. We have been invited to the U.C.W. rally on Sept. 26. They asked for a representative from the A.C.W. but all are welcome. A potluck dance will be held at the Fire Hall in Seeley‘s Bay with music provided by Verna Jacob's band. Proceeds to go to the Church School. St. Peter's Harvest Thanksgiving service will be on Oct. 6th at 10:00. L We all joined in for the prayer after which lunch was served.
