SWEET'S CORNERS SCHOOL COMMITTEE It was a brief but productive meeting on May let. For anyone who has ever been on the playground at the school, they can appreciate the need for some type of Windbreaker. The Committee has decided to plant 100 - 6 foot white cedar trees as soon as possible. The cost will be $600. In order to raise money for this undertaking, it was decided to have a Bake Sale on Saturday, June let at 11 a.m. It will take place on Cameron's lawn in Seeley's Bay. Parents of the students will be asked to contribute baked goods. Next year the Committee will be buying new uniforms for the teams. As this is another expensive purchase, the Committee decided to operate a bingo at "Mr. Bingo's" in Kingston. This will be scheduled for sometime next October and 1 2 volunteers will be needed to work. The last meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, June 17th at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Claire, Principal, will be reporting on the staffing for next year. As well, the election of officers for the School Committee will take place. Following is a summary of events taking place at Sweet's Corners School as told by students at the school: On the 23 of April, we had. a Skip-aâ€"thon, we did really well on raising the money. We raised $1645.00 science Fair held on April 24th. Winners of the fair were: Intermediate: 1 st Philip J ardine and Chris Hibbert on chickens; 2nd Brenda Tye and Shelly Geeza on life in the forest; Junior: lst Pat VanVerzen on robots; 2nd Ben Shaw on minerals and Greg Eaton on city intersection. NORTH LEEDS LANTERN will be having a Junior Olympics Day organized by Dan Reavie. On May 30 and 31, Grade 7‘s will be going on a canoeing trip from Seeley's Bay to Morton Creek. They will be going from Beverley to Lyndhurst, WAYNE PHILLIPS then sleeping at Lower Beverley Park. 0 During the lst week of June, Grade 3-6 will be going to Grippen Lake. On June 5th, Grade 7's will be going to Carleton University. On Monday, May 12th, Mark Darrock spoke to the grade 5-8 about preservation of wildlife and conservation. On June 11th, Grade 1-3 will be going to Mallorytown landing. The naturalist - Kathleen Birch. On June 11-13th, the MEMORIAL SERVICE grade 8's will be going June 15. 1985 to Quebec City. They 2230 p.m. had a Jog-a-thon to raise money for this trip. On June 17 and 19th our boys will be going to Rideau On Cemetery Grounds If it rains.
