Our Past Presidents' Dinner and awards night will be on June 14 with the following agenda: Cocktails 6â€"? p.m.; Dinner - 7 p.m.; Awards â€" 8 p.m. and Dancing 9-1. We are planning a community family day for September 6th. Darts are over for the summer months but general meetings are still every 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. REAR OF LEEDS & LANSDOWNE RECREATIONAL COMMITTEE The Recreational committee meeting was held at the Township building on April 28th with 4 members present. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Government grant for Kendrick's Park Day Camp has been approved. Jane Billings and Chuck Galway are busy with organization of the camp. There will be some handicapped children attending this year accompanied by an aide for each child. Monies will be forthcoming for Day Camp Staff to attend a Leadership Training couse. Hiring of Day Camp Staff will be decided near the middle of May. A motion was made to ask the Rear of Leeds and Lansdowne Township to send a letter to Mr. Garrett VanVierzen, Chairman of the Centennial Park Committee Board, Seeley's Bay re upkeep of the park. Ladies' Swim Committee will meet with Recreational Committee at the May meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Next meeting will be held May 26th at 7:30 p.m. SEELEY'S BAY 8 DISTRICT LIONS CLUB presents CELEBRATION 1986 JULY lst, CANADA DAV FIRENORKS 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. SEELEY'S BAY SENIORS On April 25th, 24 seniors sat down to a pot luck dinner. We had our draw on the new quilt with the winner being Jane Eby of Seeley's Bay. Ernest Grisby brought brochures on different trips that we could take with the Gananoque Seniors. Our afternoon wound up with a few games of cards. May 9th, we had our business meeting. The meeting opened with the Lord's prayer. There were 15 members present. Minutes were approved as read and correspondance was read. There was a letter from Brockville- informing us of the Zone Rally June 18th. Freda also wanted to know if anyone was interested in the Moon Walk. It was moved that we Write a letter to the Legion concerning a fire door. The treasurer's report was adopted. Following adjournment lunch was served. Gladys excellent Conference. reminded to mail our signed Amnesty Cards. We were asked to supply blankets to Inuits. The UCW of United Church will celebrate their 25th Anniversary this year. Business meeting adjourned. Jean Atkinson, our guest Webb gave report We an of were speaker, spoke on Indian spirituality - in nature, respecting land and all products, living in harmony - sharing with everyone - until the white man's coming changed all this. She also spoke about her visitations with people in the local prisons. She feels that alcohol or drugs were responsible for almost 100% of Indians being imprisoned. A social time followed. NAME SEELEY'S BAY UCW Valera Hartley welcomed 19 members to our May meeting, held as usual in the C.E. room. The devotional was taken by Gladys Webb -â€" her subject being "Home 8: Family." Minutes were read and approved. Plans were made to go to Olivet Church on May 7th as guests of Olivet UCW for lunch and a special meeting when Moira Duffy was to speak on "Bridge House" on Rideau St., Kingston. Card report was given by Hilda. A gratifying amount of money was raised from catering to the F armers' Banquet. A flower committee was appointed to provide flowers each Sunday in the sanctuary. Advance plans were made for the fall Turkey Supper. We were reminded of our Bake sale and Bazaar to be held May 10th. It was moved that we cater to an August wedding.
