Irma read two poems "A New Day â€" A New Life" and Housecleaning - giving the comparison of cleaning houses and cleaning of our lives each day. The purpose was then repeated in unison, followed by the collection. The roll call resulted in 5 hospital and 6 home visits. The treasurer's and secretary's reports were accepted as read. Irene Goodsell read 2 letters from the Leprosy Mission â€" after which we discussed obtaining films in the fall in this connection. Along the lines of stewardship, Irene read about the Chinese people. Dione Kirby gave comments on their evening in Elgin on June 10th with the Elgin UCW. It was a very impressive time. Millie Sweet then gave an interesting reading entitled "Before the Missionaries Came" - revealing to us that Indians and perhaps other tribes knew deep down in their hearts that there was a Greater Power Somewhere. At the close, Millie had snapshots, recipes, hand made purse, etc. which she brought back after her tour to Moosenee. Irma then closed with the benediction. Lunch was enjoyed by all. Have a good summer! See you at our next meeting in September.
