8 NORTH LEEDS LANTERN ST. JOHN'S ACW The October meeting was held at the home of Joan Read. the meeting opened with the Guild Prayer. Meditation from the Living Message was read as Well as scripture. Roll Call was answered by 10 members and we were pleased to have Deb Donaldson as our visitor. The September minutes were read and approved. Treasurer's report was given and collection taken. Etta Glover and Denise Gordanier handed in their Birthday Money. A letter was read from Mrs. Dora Langridge. The ACW are asked to make sandwiches and squares for the Bishop's visit to St. Peter's on Oct. 20. We were reminded of St. Peter‘s Smorgasboard Supper on Oct. 27th. There is a bus going to Kingston on Nov. 8th for Christmas shoppers. A Church School quilt will be quilted at Joan Read's on Oct. 14th. The November meeting will be at Etta Glover's. Township of Rear of Leeds and Iansdowne Recreation Committee Through the summer months and into September, the Recreation Committee has been hard at work putting the finishing touches on a plan of action for the implementation of the Township Master Plan for Recreation. Ms. Judy Cronin (Ministry of Tourism and Recreation) was present at our Sept. 29th meeting and expressed her satisfaction at the planning to date. Judy will be a guest at our Volunteer Appreciation Night and will be discussing the role of the Provincial Government in Recreational support and planning as well as the value of volunteers in our Province. Because of Volunteer Appreciation Night, our next Recreation Committee meeting will be held on Nov. 24th at 7:30 p.m. at the Township Office. If any group is seeking financial assistance or information regarding Provincial or Township recreation programs available, please feel free to contact the. Township Office and you will be included on our monthly agenda. Our Committee meets on the last Monday of each month. LYNDHURST UCW The October meeting was held at the home of Ruth Patrick. The president welcomed everyone and readapoem. Hazel was in charge of the devotional and began by reading a poem. The scripture was read by Mary Townsend. Hazel then gave an excellent reading for Thanksgiving. The devotional closed with prayer. The offering was taken and dedicated. The roll call was answered by 13 members and the secretary's report read and approved. An invitation to the Seeley's Bay UCW meeting on Oct. 7th was given. The Bible from the Bible-a-Month Club was went to Indonesia last month. Coins were collected for the Fellowship of the Least Coin. Gladys Major gave a report on the Fall Rally held in Elgin on Sept. 24th. Mary had a reading on stewardship. Velma read the treasurer's report. The meeting closed the Benediction. A lunch was served.
