8 NORTH LEEDS LANTERN ST. JOHN'S ACW The March held at the home of Mabel meeting was Standen. The meeting opened with the Guild Prayers. Jean Roantree read the meditation from the Living Message. Roll call was answered by 9 members. The December minutes were read and approved. Treasurer's report was given and collection was taken. A letter was read informing us of Area ACW meetings and Altar Guild Workshops. A thank you note was read from the Church School teachers and students. Out Thankâ€"offering is to be handed in at the April meeting. Joyce Brown and Eleanor Wills will attend the workshop at Trinity Church in Brockville. It was decided to give a gift of money to Fr. Don and Elaine Bailey's new baby. Mabel and Winnie Bryan paid their Birthday money. Denise Gordanier and Jean Roantree paid their joining fee. The April meeting will be at lris Landon's home. The meeting closed the Grace. Addisonâ€"Tincap 4â€"H Club On Feb. 18th, 13 members of the Addisonâ€"Tincap 4-H Club were out in full force to begin the project Surviving with Style. The new members of our club soon found out that 4â€"H was not only learning but also fun. As we continued through our meetings we made an almost great meal together and some members picked up on the "ever so easy“ task of sewing buttons on material. We managed to tackle all the day to day items of surviving and appropriately named our club "Ready Rambos". with SWEET'S CORNERS SCHOOL COMMITTEE The playground equipment, totalling $4,800, has been ordered. It should arrive in late April. A bee will be organized to install the equipment. Volunteers will be needed. The School Committee has received some very generous donations toward the equipment. We thank the following donors: Lyndhurst Legion ($100); The Opinicon ($15); Sweet's Bus Service Ltd. (8250); Recreation Committee Twp Rear of Leeds 8: Lansdowne ($1500). An application has been forwarded to the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation for monies for the equipment. Since last year's fundraising event at Mr. Bingo was so successful, it was decided to book available time for next year. The Committee will be running the bingo on August 10th and 24th. There has been an interest in the school providing gymnastic training as an after school program. If anyone is interested in teaching this program, or being trained to teach gymnastics call Barb Donaldson at 387-3480. The school was saddened by the death of Beverly Brown. Bev was a most popular driver for a number of years. The students donated over $200 and the school committee $25. to the Cancer Society in memory of Bev. Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 504 sponsored a very successful public speaking program on March 11th. The winners were: Antje Baumann, Tanya Gray and Robin McGregor.
