8 NORTH LEEDS LANTERN Lyndhurst Senior Citizens Lyndhurst met in the Senior Citizen's Senior Citizens room at the Legion Hall on March 26th. The president welcomed the members who have just returned from the South and also four new friends. The meeting opened with Oh Canada and singing Happy Birthday to Ruth Johnson and Ella Tye and Happy Anniversary to Florence and Glen Warner. The minutes of the last meeting were read and the treasurer's report was given. Items of interest were read and discussed from the Voice (the Senior Citizen's magazine). Their President was complaining about the delays in mail although foreign letters come through very quickly. Many seniors are upset by the increase in the cost of Blue Cross. It is expected that Insurance Companies will offer group Insurance. The new Bill concerning Drugs will affect many and in the long run all will have higher taxes. Travellers whose driver's licence will expire while they are abroad should see that they are renewed before they leave home. The last Saturday in June was chosen for a Bake Sale. In July a Garage sale was planned. Summer activities will be decided later. The meeting adjourned. Percy Kirby showed a film of some of their travels. Hope all will come to our next meeting. ST. JOHN'S ACW The April meeting was held at the home of Iris Landon. The meeting opened with the Lord's Prayer followed by the Guild Prayers. Meditation from the Living Message and the scripture was read. Roll call was answered by 11 members. The March minutes were read and approved. Treasurer's report was given. Thank Offering was handed in. It was decided to give to Fair Share; have an Arts and Crafts Sale in October and to sell cook books. Suzanne Gatenby and Joan Read will work on the books. The Rummage Sale is May 14, 15 and 16th. On May 10th there will be a family service followed by refreshments. Jeff's ordination will be at St. George's Cathedral, Kingston on June 24th at 7:30 p.m. Jeff remembered Amanda Greene and her family in prayer and closed the meeting with the Grace. Pres. Marion Warren welcomed everyone and read a beautiful Easter poem. Betty Moorhead was in charge of the devotional. The offering was taken and dedicated. Letters were read from the Delta UCW inviting us to their Thank Offering Service on April 8th and from the Olivet UCW inviting us to their luncheon meeting on May 6th. A letter from Oxfam was also read which thanked us for the stamps we sent to them. We will purchase 10 UCW pins. Our Income tax papers were handed out. The Bible from the Bible-ofâ€"the-month Club was sent to the Philipines.
