During the summer, one of our members organized a bus tour to Oxfordâ€"Mills and Ottawa. The Lyndhurst Seniors club joined us. During the morning we visited the garden of Osmonde White and his wife in Oxford-Mills, they have a weekly program on Channel T6. The Old Stone Farmhouse, century old maple trees amd flowers were admired by all. Im the afternoon we visited the Museum of Civilization in Hull and enjoyed the newest invention of Cinema,lmex and 0mnimax.We had dinner in Kemptville.0ur first Fall meeting was held on September 2T with a good turn out. After business we saw a slide presentation about the Delta Mill by David Mess of the Mill Society. This resulted in a lively discussion followed by tea and a social gathering. The October l9 meeting was attended by the Zone Field Representative Valerie Church and Zone Secretary/Treasurer Ken Hains both of Brockville. Meals on wheels were discussed nad since we have only three convenors there will be only one meal per month on the fourth Wednesday, at noon in the Legion Hall, Delta. The price will be $4.00 and they will be delivered by volunteers in the surrounding area. The November l6 meeting at 2 p.m. in the Hall, will be followed by a bazaar and tea at 3 p.m. At the last convention of U.S.C.0. in London it was decided that people of 55 and over may join our clubs. Our meetings are on the 3rd Friday of the month at 2 p.m. in the Hall. Yearly dues are only $3.00 We welcome new members anytime, ju5t drop in. Each grade winner received a certificate, a smoke detector and a shirt/ball cap which promote the county's Learn Not To Burn program. The minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted as was Irene Goodsell's treasurer's report. Irma Chant gave a short report on the Fall Rally, and other members commented on now much they enjoyed it. A short discussion was held re groups to be helped at Christmas time. Irene then gave her Stewardship report. "Recollection of my teaching days in Timmins at the time of the Gold Rush" was Emily Lester's topic for the program. Inuit children and adults from all walks of life were taught the English language, besides other helpful hints. Our interest was held from beginning to end! The ladies enjoyed lunch put on by Aileen Jacques, Jeannette Molaro and our hostess Irene Goodsell. Vivian Morris gave the courtesy. Our next meeting will be at the home of Joan Molaro.
