They will soon be available at a nominal fee. We will inform the public when they arrive. For those who have asked for clarification in the ongoing library saga â€" In the 1989 budget the library board requested that the household levy be raised approximately 14% which many council members felt was too large an increase. Other corrmittees were not receiving such a high increment. Therefore in 1989, only a 7% or half of the requested increase was granted. In the 1990 budget the total levy requested was granted. The total library budget in Bastard and South Burgess for 1990 was $15,182. of this $12,887. was the 1990 levy and was paid in full as of June 4, 1990. While Council supports the Union Library, the members feel that a realistic increase should be negotiated before the budget is set and then the budget be drawn up within the confines of this amount. The rabies clinic was once more a success. In your Township, ll3 dogs and 50 cats give thanks to their owners who took advantage of this opportunity to help eradicate a dreaded disease. More (Iiâ€"site meetings have been held. Touring waste sites, development sites, and the park, on foot is keeping us in shape physically while we mentally wrestle with the problems. The park tour was most interesting and plans were made for future development. June 10th was a different meeting. The Firefighter's Association invited Council members to the annual Awards Dinner we enjoyed a social hour with the members followed by a gourmet beef dinner (ably catered by our own Veda and Marion). Congratulations to those awarded medals! Have a happy safe, sunny, summer. See you at the activities and watch for the next column in September!
