The December meeting took the form of a potluck dinner for the members and their husbands.A brief meeting followed with a welcome from our preSident,Marion Warren. Mary Townsend gave the devotional which began With the singing of ”Christ Whose Glory Fills the Skies". Mary's theme was Advent and she showed,through the reading of several scripture that Jesus' coming brought light to the world.The offering was taken passages, and dedicated by Mary. The devotional closed w1th the Singing of ”Joy to the World” Roll call was answered by 13 members and the secretary's report read and approved.Velma Kelsey read the treasurer's report. A letter from Rideau Lakes Union Library Board was read, thanking us for the use of our hall and a thank you card from Marie Collins who enclosed a donation. Our new President, Ruth Galway, opened the meeting with prayer and wished everyone a Happy New Year. Marion Warren was in charge of the Devotional and read a poem for New Year's. It was moved by Vienna Kelsey Tye that and seconded by Marie Collins to send a donation to the Bursary Fund. Dues were paid for memberships and to the flower fund. The meeting opened with the Lord's Prayer. Ruth Anna Glover read the Scripture, St. Luke 4:14-21. Mabel Standen read the Meditation from the Living Message; all members repeated the prayer. Roll call was answered by 8 members. We were pleased to have Vera Sheridan as our visitor. November minutes and approved. were read The collection was given. Treasurer's report was given.A donation was given to the Salvation Army. The credence table is going to be dedicated in thanksgiving for Charles and Jean Roantree's 55th wedding anniversary at the dedication service on December 11. The A.C.W. will purchase cut flowers for the altar in loving memory of Elmer Bryan for the Christmas service. St. John's A.C.W. extends a big thank you to the following stores for helping make our October Arts and Crafts a huge success: Seeley's Bay Texaco, Sweet's Red White, Morton Store, Variety, Paddle's Eggs, A&P Stores in Gananoque and Kingston, and Willard's Bakery in Delta. Also a big thank you to all our kitchen helpers. and Vicki's RECREATIONAL COMMITTEE Met on December 13, 1988.The meeting was chaired by Bruce Bryan with five members in attendance. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. It was moved that money be donated to the Westport Arena Skating Club to cover skating for three children from the Township of Rear of Leeds abd Lansdowne. It was moved that funds left in the Recreational Budget be divided equally between Seeley's Bay Park and Kendrick's Park. It was moved that money be allocated to the Winter Swim Program. Bruce Bryan,thanked his committee for their support during the year and wished them well in the coming year.Meeting adjourned. The recreational Committee met on January 12, 1989. The meeting was chaired by Bruce Bryan with six members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. It was moved that Joan Tye be appointed as Chairman and Betty Sly as Secretary.
