THERE'S SOMETHING NEW AT BEVERLEY TOWNSHIP PARK by Pat McManus A self-guiding tour through the woods and fields is now available at the park, compliments of the Conservation Committee of the township. trees, six shrubs and eight other interesting features of the walking trail have been identified, numbered and are briefly described in the guide. You can pick one up at a box near the Park Superintendent's house. The committee hopes that this guide will provide you with even more enjoyment from this lovely, quiet and easy-toâ€"walk nature trail. There are many interesting things to be seen in the park; chipmunks and squirrels for certain and porcupines and groundhogs going about â€their business. You could be lucky and see a deer or a fox or a rare Blanding's Turtle, probably a painted one or even a Snapper. There are snakes as well, all perfectly harmless, Eastern Garter Snakes, Red Bellied Snakes and in the water you might see a Northern Water Snake. I repeat, they are all harmless and will slip quietly away as soon as they become aware of your presence. Seventyâ€"one species of birds have been seen and heard within the park, in the trees, on the ground, in the water and in the air. You won't see all of them, but you will see some. The field work was done by Annette Mess, Jenny Mansell, Bud Donald and Pat McManus. Pat also wrote the brochure and takes responsibility for any and all errors in it. The committee intends to expand the guide as more items are identified and marked. You can walk this trail in an hour but perhaps it would be better to spend a little more time and take a good look at what you are seeing. Have fun!
