White Gumdrop Cake Ni ht Before Preparation (Remove black gumdrops) Chop fine and mix well: 1 lb white raisins 1/2 lb candied pineapple 1/4 lb almonds 1/2 lb red & green cherries 1/1. lb Citron peel 1 lb gumdrops Next Day: Mix 1â€"1/4 cups white sugar with 1 cup of butter (or marg. good quality). Mix in well, one at a time, 5 eggs. Blend in 1/2 cup of milk with 2 cups flour that has been sifted with 1/2 tsp salt and 2 tsp baking powder. Add the fruit and mix well. Bake in tube pan (10") greased and floured, for 2 hours or so at 300 degrees. Put a can of water in oven for moisture . Cool inverted and wrap well to store. Cranberryâ€"Orange Liqueur Start this delicious rubyâ€"red cordial a few weeks before you plan to give it as a gift. Makes about 1â€"1/4 quarts. 1 pkg. (12 ounces) cranberries 1 bottle (750 ml) vodka or alcool 1 orange (or 1/4 lemon & 1/2 orange) 1â€"1/2 cups sugar 3/4 cups of water Chop berries coarsely. Pare orange with peeler carefully as you use the skin only. Combine berries and orange parings and vodka in a glass or plastic one gallon container. Cover and let steep at room temperature for 3 to 4 weeks. Strain into a clean container; filter or siphon off clear liquid if cloudy. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan; bring to boiling and boil 1 min. then cool. Stir sugar syrup into berry liquid. Taste.
