Leta Burt opened the meeting by inviting the members to observe a moment of silence in memory of Mr. Sid Talbot, a long time charter member (in fact he gave the club its name). Mr . Talbot passed away this summer. A good number of members were present, and they were pleased to welcome Ina Gipson, a former member who returned from Athens for a visit. Three birthdays and four anniversaries were applauded as was the bank balance which will help finance a bus trip in October, to enjoy the fall foliage in Calabogie. Mrs. Audrey Talbot was honoured and presented with a cheque as she leaves her home in Delta to take up residence in Valley View Court, Athens. Our loss is Athens' gain, and we wish Audrey good health and happiness in her new home. Mrs. Florence Jacques, Delta was the winner of the draw for the butterfly quilt. Get well wishes go to Mrs. ja'ne Breedyk, who is in Kingston General Hospital undergoing surgery. Plans are underway to hold a craft and bake sale in November. Meals on Wheels program gets underway again on Sept . 23 to be followed each second and fourth Wednesday thereafter. The price remains at a cost of $3.00 for Seniors and $5.00 for nonâ€"members who are not seniors.
