The Canadian Paraplegic Association (founded in 1945), is a registered, nonâ€"profit, charitable organization, that has a two part mission. First to afford meaningful, practical support and assistance to both individuals who are physically disabled from spinal cord injury and to their families as they attempt to construct a productive independent lifestyle in an integrated community setting. Concurrently, the Association also aims to facilitate the creation of the resources and the attitudinal environment necessary to eventually bring about the medical eradication of permanent spinal cord paralysis. The Kingston Regional Office, which services Southeastern Ontario, provides personal and family counselling, advocacy, community development, financial counselling and assistance , transportation and housing information, educational and vocational couselling, employment assistance. general information services and research, public education, municipal, provincial and federal organizations and agencies and to work closely with professionals from the various hospitals, rehabilitation centres and community agencies for spinal cord injured consumers. The Canadian Paraplegic Association also wishes to invite consumers, professionals and general public to two upcoming workshops conferences in Toronto. The first workshop is entitled "Sexuality and Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury", that will take place Sept. 29 & 30th. The second workshop is the "3rd Annual Spinal Cord Injury Research Symposium" that will take place on Oct. 1 & 2nd.
