As usual, the first report comes as early as possible to let parents and students know how things are going. They have letter grades only and are not intended to be precise. Students receive a report for each subject they are taking. Parents' Night is Thursday, March 24 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Teachers will be there to discuss progress with all parents at that time. Derek Adams, Tom Burns, Kevin Cairns, Scott Halladay, Chris Lemcke, Mark McCreary, James Rogers, Steve Visser, Todd Visser, Scott wykes and Bill Wbods are Rideau’s proud senior boy's basketball team who won the Eastern Ontario Championship and have proceeded to Timmins Ontario for the all Ontario competition. They are ranked as number one by the organizers. Their assistant coach Vince Tobin, Coach Rob Stephenson and manager Beth Bishop are also going to Timmins. Manager Jennifer Carbino remained at home. Rideau's community responded magnificently to requests for help to see the boys on their way. NORTH LEEDS LANTERN 19 These competitions are not funded by the Board and Timmins is a long way off. However, the generosity of many made it all possible. The team plans to publicly thank those who helped them when they return. It's at times like this that the community spirit and support for our young people comes through loudly and clearly. Rideau's midget boy's basketball team deserves the communities’ congratulations too along with their coach, Doug McDonnell. The boys swept the Eastern Ontario finals at Deep River on Tuesday, March 8. Rideau’s strength at this level abodes well for the future of basketball in this community. The junior team did almost as well losing to Deep River by only eight points in the final game. Congratulations to all the team and to coach Went Sharp. we wish to thank the community for supporting our Student Council magazine campaign last November. Unfortunately we must also apologize to many of you who have yet to receive your magazine(s). If you are still waiting, please call Sunsweet toll free and speak to Karen Cobb 1â€"800â€"268â€"1250.
