The community projects were coâ€"ordinated by a committee of four: Chairperson Marlene Stearry; Secretary Heather Halladay; Treasurer William Morris and Dennis Halladay. But if it were not for the people of the surrounding area, many of the festive decorations would not have been possible. The very idea and the determination to see the completion of the projects is evidence enough that the true spirit if Christmas lives always in the hearts of Delta and area citizens. On Saturday, November 09th., volunteers braved the cool weather and winds to decorate the utility poles within the Village with 22 five foot metal Christmas trees bells, bows, stars, candy canes and candles covered in colourful foil garland. While last year we had 15 ornaments, this year we were able to add 7 more to our display. The committee would like to thank Bill Stearry for all of his efforts in designing and constructing the decorations, Keith Smith-Marlene Stearryâ€"Heather Halladay for painting the decorations, Wm Morrisâ€"Heather Halladayâ€"Marlene Stearry for decorating the metal frames and to the following for their work in erecting the decorations: Gene York, Bill Stearry, Bruce Steacy, Keith Smith, Victor Raison, Chris Patterson, Victor Sidlauskas, Doug Pratt, Dave Thomas, Dennis Halladay, William Morris and Steven Halladay. A vote of thanks should also go to Delta Contracting for the use of their backâ€"hoe equipment. Special thanks to Ontario Hydro for their continued support of our project:the coâ€"operation is greatly appreciated! On November 17th., spirits ran high as children of all ages gathered for an old fashioned tree trimming ceremony. While enjoy Christmas carols, the local residents enjoyed decking the tree with 1,000 shinning lights. The committee would like to thank Betty Penstone & Gary Raison for the donation of lights for the tree; Bill and Milford Stearry for the donations of timers for the tree lights and to Bud Donald & Bastard /Burgess Council for the use of park facilities and hydro. A special vote of thanks to Ron Morris for providing the music system for the carols. Following the tree trimming, participants remained for hot chocolate courtesy of Linda Smith while the committee furnished the hot dogs. A vote of thanks to Linda Gifford, Thressa Findlay, Marlene Stearry and Wm. Morris for being the chefs. Of course, it would be inappropriate not to mention those who have made financial contributions to the decorating fund. Without such great support, additional decorations would not “’w% have been possible. Hats off to the following: Brute Cooper, lFRK§QW B & SB Recreation Committee, Delta Maple Syrup Festival, Wm.
