TOWNSHIP OF SOUTH CROSBY The Council of the Township of South Crosby met on Monday, October 7, 1991 at 7:30 p.m. All members present. Minutes from the following meetings Were distributed and approved: Wednesday, September ll, 17, 17, and 30, 1991. Council agree to the temporary closure of Church street, Village of Morton during the construction period for the replacement of bridge on Highway 15. Councillor Linda Carr inquired about the condition of the hall on Main Street village of Elgin, which is owned by Mr. L.â€" Seaman, and the danger to the public. It was recommended by Council that Mr. Turnbull do an on-site inspection and to take the necessary steps to correct this situation. Councillor James stedman brought the matter of building on lots on Whitefish Lake, on the table for discussion. It was noted that Council Members, and representative from C.R.C.A. have completed an onâ€"site inspection and feel that these properties are not suitable for building and septic system installation, due to the location and condition of the' land. Clerkâ€"Treasurer was authorized to contact MOE and MNR â€" Fisheries Branch and set up a meeting for Wednesday, October 16, 1991 to do an onâ€"site inspection. Councillor Linda Carr is to contact C.R.C.A. and request their comments, regarding this matter in writing. The following accounts were accepted for payment: General Office..$l4,939.79 LACAC ........... 765.00 Waste Disposal Site .......... 9.765.40 $25,470.19 Byâ€"Law Number 27â€"91, being a Byâ€"Law authorize the Reeve and the Clerkâ€" Treasurer to sign the agreement for repairs to Wiltse Bridge passed 7th day of October 1991. Council of the Corporation of the Township of South Crosby agree that Mr. Harold Proud be paid $75.00 as compensation for sheep (ewe) killed by wolves; and further that the Clerkâ€" Treasurer is authorized to petition the Ministry of Agriculture & Food for reimbursement of such expenditure. Council support in principle the proposal to open an Extended Service Office in the Village of Elgin. And further recommend that information on the following be obtained and brought back to Council for further consideration: 1) availability of office space; 2) costs that would be the responsibility of the Municipality. Information received from Frank Amo, Senior Inspector, Fuels Safety Branch, Ministry of Consumer & Commercial Relations concerning the removal of underground storage tanks was presented to Council Members. Following discussion it was agreed that this matter be tabled to the next Council Meeting, for further consideration. Letter and information received from Kostuch Engineering Limited concerning engineering servcies in relation to the restoration of the Pimple, was presented to Council. Deputyâ€"Reeve Wayne Sly, being a member of the Committee dealing with the restoration of the Pimple, is to take this information to the Committee ‘ for consideration. Letter received from Ms. Jane Monaghan advising Council Members of her deciSion to step down as a member of the Rideau Lakes Union Library Board, was read . by Council. Clerkâ€"Treasurer was authorized to write a letter to Ms. Monaghan acknowledging her letter, and to thank her for her services as a member of the Rideau Lakes Union ~ Library Board. Various correspondence with MNR, Bell Canada, Ontario Hydro, and Totten Sims Hubicki concerning Wiltse Bridge, were presented to Council Members for their perusal. Letter received from L. Thomas McAneney, advising Council of their services in short-wording regulatory by-laws, was discussed by Council Members. Clerk- Treasurer was directed to place letter on file, and further investigation is to be done on this matter. Reeve Smith gave a report concerning the closing of the Red Cross Office, in the Village of Elgin, and advised that the Red Cross will be renting facilities from Guthrie House, from which premises the "Loans Cupboard" will operate. Letters received from Mrs. Marion Chester and Township of North Crosby concerning this same matter were presented to Council. Coucillor Brought to attention that a conversation with Mr. G. Baker, it was noted that the roof at the Old Public School needs some repair, and also that there are a number of bees in this old building. Council Members were advised that Mr. Lawrence Yateman has been in contact with the Municipal Office concerning this matter, and that application for Heritage Grant is being completed.
