After lunch, we had a guestâ€"speaker Dr. P.J. Junker of Smith Falls, who serves this community in the Delta Health Centre. He spoke on preventive medicine, health, diets and other related topics of health, concerning Seniors. He also answered questions and held his audience captive. Leta Burt thanked the doctor for his eXCellent information, after he left, the coordinator of the two units (Portland and Delta), Sandra Chant, told us about the History and working of the two units. At 2 p.m., Mrs. Aimer opened the meeting, attended by 23 members and 3 visitors, and we sang O Canada. We sang Happy Birthday to Ruby McGuire. We also sang the praise of Irma and Glen Chant, who had their 4lst anniversary. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the Secretary, Mrs. Chant and approved as read. A thank you note was received from Sheila Durham, for the fruit basket, sent to her husband Murray, she reported that he came through the operation very well and is recuperating at home. Treasurer, Emily Lester read her financial report, which showed a healthy balance. Mrs. Burt reported on a prize for the most improved pupil of the Beverley school at Delta and a donation will be given to the school. She will contact the Principal of the school to work out the details. She also announced a Zone meeting (Western Sector) on November 18 at Seeley's Bay at 1:30 p.m. at which she will preside, since she was recently chosen to represent the Zone in the Western Sector, at a meeting of the Zone executive, held in Brockville. She will also visit the 8 clubs, located in this sector. Peter Breedyk, President of the Zone, reported on the Zone Executive meeting, he is to visit the clubs in the Central Sector of the Zone. He also reported that Delta failed to clean the sidewalk of snow in the winter season. This forces the Seniors to walk on the highway. There is a Bylaw in the village that property owners are supposed to clean the sidewalk in front of their houses, it is never enforced. After discussion, it was moved, seconded and passed Village that a letter be sent to the Township and the Trustees, asking to change that law, and make the Village Trustees responsible for removing the snow from the sidewalk during the winter season. We are not privileged with a shopping mall, in which to exercise, which is still the best exercise possible for seniors to stay in shape. The parents of children of the village, will also feel safer if their children were not forced to walk to school on the highway. The next meeting will be held on November 15, 1991 at 2 p.m., a bake and craft sale will follOw at 3 p.m. with an afternoon tea in the hall. On December 3, our members will enjoy a free Christmas shopping bus trip to Kingston. Seniors may join us for $7.00. Our Christmas dinner will be held for the members, without charge on December 13, 1991. It was moved, seconded and passed to donate $50.00 to the United Way fund. The meeting closed by the president and we all sang God Save the Queen. if NEESON CONCRETE i‘ R.R.2, SEELEY'S BAY 3 8 7-40 1 9 0R CELLULAR 54 1-0408 Metered mixed concrete on the job site Pay for what you use No job is too small styling For Men Women & Children Excellent Prices HOURS MON.
