Rain date is October 6. There may be a light at the end of the tunnel! By _ co- operating with n e i g h b o u r i n g municipalities there is a strong possibility of holding a Hazardous Waste Day, probably in the spring when everyone is house cleaning. There was not a large attendance at the Official Plan Public meeting. This was a disappointment to your Council, as this was an opportunity for input into the upâ€"dating of this important document. Those who did attend were keenly interested and made many suggestions. Council has requested the loan, free, of a videotape from AIM â€" Landfill Reduction Inc. this could be an answer to drastically reducing the amount of waste at our sites. The swimming programme was highly successful again this )Ieair. T<3t.a1 participants at both sites was 113, with mlns t svviInnIe1:s completing the course successfully. The leaders, Becky Mainse and Hope Evans, handed in excellent reports and wished to thank Corey, Devon, April and Derek for all their assistance. How uplifting to have another good year at our beaches! In Beverley Lake Township Park, the staff have started reâ€" roofing the cottages. The Fire Chief reported that an Open House will be held at each Fire Station on October 12. See the Notice in this issue of the North Leeds Lantern for all the details. A Public Meeting was held in Delta Community Hall to discuss the future of this fine old bu11ding. Almost no interest was shown by the community, to the disappointment of the committee. Count your blessings. Despite all the troubles in Canada, we do have a lot for which to be thankful. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
