The President, Marjorie Earl welcomed everyone. Marion Seeley was presented with a hand- made guilt made by the UCW as a retirement gift. The worship was taken by Marjorie Earl, Jean MacIntyre, Doris Summers, Millie Simpson and Lydia Tackaberry. The offering was taken and dedicated by Doris. Millie had paper handouts in fruit shapes. We rere to write on them "what amazing thing would you like the Lord to do in your life toâ€"morrow or to-day". A memorial service was held for Eva Baxter, Mary Pritchard and Norma Shanks who died recently. Lydia gave the benediction. The business opened with reading of the May minutes by Secretary, Lydia Tackaberry. Correspondence was dealt with and several items will be discussed in the fall when we reconvene. For the program we had a guest speaker. Ann Back of the Leeds, Lanark 8 Grenville Health Unit gave a very informative talk on "Aids". She dispelled a lot of myths about how you may become infected with the disease. She stressed the importance of the public being educated concerning the facts. Several questions were asked by members following her presentation. The disease is new to America - 1981 â€" with no known cure to date. Secretary, Lydia Tackaberry read the minutes of the April meeting to open business. Several reports by Chairpersons were given: Treasurer, Enid Soper: Social/Convener, Eleanor Taylor; Supply & Service, Sandra Freeman; Literature, Loree Smith; Flower. & Gift, Leorene Hayes. Marjorie had peace ribbons for us to write on which will be sent to .Korea later. Her Happiness File and Remembrance Book had several contributions. Roll call for June is used stamps. Also our dinner meeting then will be catered to by Petals Restaurant and be held in the Church. The meeting closed with the singing of a chorus. The social hour followed and was enjoyed. A beautiful tribute to Rideau was made by District Deputy Grand Matron, Mrs. Edith Jenkins who recalled many highlights of the past 45 years. In responding, Mrs. Mary Davies Past District Deputy Grand Matron and a Charter Member, spoke of the wonderful years of fellowship she has enjoyed as a member of the Eastern Star. The attendance of Charter Members, Freda Tempest, Mary Davies, Gladys Robb, Ada Sharpe, Marion Kenny, and Helen Sweet made the evening very special. st. In an evening of fellowship and reminiscing Past District Deputy Grand Matrons of District - 13 Mary Davies, Viola Calbeck, Norma Guthrie, Gladys Hunter, Bethel McCallum, Marjorie Jackson, and Francis Thurlow were recognized and welcomed on this special occasion.
