YOUR COUNCIL AT WORK Bastard and South Burgess P. Tackaberry, A. Greenhorn You will notice a new face at the Waste Disposal Attendant’s booth. We’re sorry that Kenny is on sick leave due to an operation and we all wish him a speedy recovery. During his absence Ronald Dillon is assisting Don Day. Because of many inquiries and some misunderstandings, the E n v i r o n m e n t a 1 Conservation Committee has volunteered to produce a leaflet clarifying regulations for recycling and waste disposal. Thank g o o d n e s s f o r volunteers! Have you noticed the blue signs designating private roads leading from municipal roads? These will hopefully aid ratepayers to s p e e d i l y a n d efficiently direct emergency services to a residence if required. A map is in preparation and copies will be sent to police, ambulance and fire departments. Take note of your road number. The soldiers are on the march! The 2nd regiment will be marching from Petawawa to Kingston and will camp overnight July 1 on the grounds of Rideau Centennial School, Portland. Council has been invited to share the camp meal with them. You've all heard about army cooking, we’ll tell you our reactions in the next column. No, we have not forgotten Hazardous W a s t e D a y . Municipalities are still corresponding with each other and hopefully our efforts will bear fruit. Your Council is very busy with regular, special and committee meetings, with a few social events thrown in. We attended a retirement party for Alexis Landon in Kendrick's Park - a very enjoyable event. Several 50th. wedding anniversaries are being celebrated this year. It's always a pleasure to help celebrate. The North Leeds Lantern combines the two summer months into one issue. However, Council still keeps its nose to the grindstone, so watch for a long newsy report in September. Happy, safe holidays. DR.
