In early December, Ron and Shelva Pollard suffered a $100,000.00 1055 when their barn was destroyed by fire. Although help has been flowing in ever since, Friday evening‘s benefit dance was the crowning gesture. Sponsored by the Executive and Ron's fellow members of Local 318, Leeds County National Farmers' Union, the evening was a great success. It is the policy of the Farmers' Union to suppert fellow members when they face the loss of a barn which is vital to their farming operation. of the families, friends, neighbours and fellow County Councillors was heartwarming. Ron Visser, President of the Leeds Local presented the sum of $2800.00 to the Pollard family to assist in the construction of their new barn in the .spring. Charlene McCordic made a replica of a barn which was on hand for donations. Many people assisted the union in making the evening a success. Disc Jockey, Roy Bresee donated his services and the Westport Snowmobile club (Ron is a pastâ€"president) as well as friends and neighbours supplied the lunch.
