Alas! 28 summers have quickly passed Now the time has come for me to sell- I'll try to make it fast... Last boat rides on the lake Sad farewells I'll have to make. The song has ended but the melody will linger on Long after the leaves fall and the birds have gone "Adieu" to the blue jays-the woodpecker-the loons The blue Heron-the humming-bird and huge harvest moons. "Adieu" to the quiet lake so still... And to the rustle of the tiny chipmunk in the leaves on the hill The beauty of the early morning sun rise Against the blaze of coloured skies. The sight of the majestic oak, cedar and pine Along a country road - will always be mine... The peace and silence when dark lies the land... Brings comfort like the grasp of a hand. The gentle peace and tranquility everywhere... Leads you to believe you haven't a care In the silent stillness one sees for a second..Infinity... And feels for a flashing moment a part of eternity. â€"â€"._-â€"__â€"___â€"_-~__ Best wishes to all my gathered friends at Chaffeys and in the town of Elgin "Merry Christmas“ Bettie Macdonald.
