THE KITCHEN WITCH The following recipes are for your winter entertain- ing. I bought expired pita breads and bagels and had a large amount to use at half the cost of expensive crackers No breakage and low fat. Appetizer: One item and usually served at table. Blue Cheese Tart 1 - 9'pie shell baked 2 - 802 blue cheese % cup mayonnaise 1 tsp garlic powder % cup chopped green onion and parsley combined assortment of cherry tomatoes, black olives, freshly skiced mushrooms, parsley and cucumber for garnish. Cream together the cream and blue cheeses. Stir in onion and parsley, mayon- naise and garlic powder. Cover and chill overnight. Spread in baked pie shell. Garnish with veggies.Slice very thinly to serve as the pie is rich. Toasted Pita Chips - Yield 72 6 small pita breads(6-8" diam) Olive oil and sesame or poppy seeds (optional) Slip scissors into edge of pitas and cut them in half horizontally, making 2 rounds. Brush inside with oil. Sprinkle with seeds pressing them in. Cut each round into 6 triangles. Bake at 325 deg.on cookie sheets for 10 or 15 min. until lightly browned and crisp. Store in airtight container at room temperature or freeze. The chips are delicious with or without dip. Bagel Crisps-Yield 2% doz. Cut bagels into k "slices, spread with garlic butter and seasame seeds. Bake at 350 deg. until lightly browned and crisp. Cool. Store in airtight contai- ner at room temperature.
