Clara Townsend BEVERLEY semen CIflZENS The meeting of the Beverly Seniors club, was held on October 16, 1992 at 2pm. in the Legion Hall at Delta. The Seniors Club “ Athenia" from Athens, were our guests, and they appeared in great numbers. President, Elmer McQuire, opened the meeting with prayer, after which we sang O'Canada. Our questspeaker, Mr. David Scotland, of the Scotland Funeral Home in Elgin, was introduced by Peter Breedyk. The topic of Mr. Scotlands speech was preâ€"arranged and preâ€"paid funerals. It makes a lot of sense to do this, for when death occurs in the family, everyone is shocked and nobody knows the wishes of the departed. This can all be avoided by preâ€"payment, the money goes in a Government controlled trust fund, earns interest, which will take care of inflation. It is not a very pleasent topic to discuss, but we might as well face reality, that day will come. To judge, by the many questions, we can rest assured that Mr. Scotlands talk was well appreciated. The President the speaker for his well informed talk. We sang to honour Ruby McQuire for her birthday and to Glen and Erma Chant for their anniversary. Mrs. Chant read the minutes of the last meeting and some highlights out of " The Voice", the monthly magazine of the United Seniors Clubs of Ontario.
