The Council met in accordance with statute at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The following gentlemen composed the council:--/Artemesia/--W. S. Christoe, Reeve; J. McArthur and J. Boland, Deputies. /Bentinck/--J. Messenger, Reeve; H. Bingham and A. McCullum, Deputies. /Collingwood/--T. McKenny, Reeve; W. Kerr and W. Hewgill, Deputies. /Derby/--J. Robertson, Reeve; A. Garvie, Deputy. /Euphrasia/--T. Gilray, Reeve; W. Fawcett, Deputy. /Egremont/--W. Caulfield, Reeve; D. McCormick and J. Swanton, Deputies. /Glenelg/--C. Moffat, Reeve; [J. McMulan,] Deputy. /Holland/--E. Oldham, Reeve; A. McKechnie, Reeve. /Dundalk/--P. McGregor. The Assistant County Clerk took the chair, called the Council to order, and asked them to elect a Warden. All the members, not being present, an adjournment was had till 7 p.m. When the Council met again, Nicholas Read, Esq., Deputy Reeve of St. Vincent, was elected Warden by a practically unanimous vote on the first ballot, and it was immediately made unanimous by a standing vote. A special committee to consider the question of Clerkship was appointed, and the Council adjourned till Wednesday. _Wednesday._ Mr. John Gale, who for many years has held the position of Assistant County Clerk was unanimously appointed County Clerk at a salary of $600. Robert Edge was appointed Auditor on nomination of the Warden, and John Albery on behalf of the Council. John Rutherford was re-appointed High School Trustee. John Chisholm and Thos. Gamey were appointed members of a Board of Audit.
