- In 1940, LongLac Pulp and Paper Co. conceived the idea of developing the town of Terrace Bay, and by 1958, the paper mill changed its name to Kimberly-Clark Pulp and Paper Co. This area had a suitable natural harbour for loading and unloading of lake freighters and rail transportation that was available in Terrace Bay, Ontario.
