Description
A black and white photo of Canadian National Railway station located in Port Arthur. Port Arthur's former docks at the foot of Arthur Street (now Red River Road). Several generations of docks and wharves occupied this site for over a century. It was the hub of commercial activity with businesses, shipping lines and railways. By the time this photo was taken (just after World War 11), this part of the harbour was in decline. After the passenger ships stopped calling at the Lakehead in the 1960s the entire infrastructure of docks was dismantled and replaced by Marina Park.
