Page 2, News, Tuesday, July 28, 1992 Men's Slo-pitch tournament a success The Coors Terrace Bay Men's Slo-pitch Tournament { , was held Friday, July 24 to Sunday, July 26, with a total of 18 teams participating. The teams came from all over, with teams from Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Marathon, Nipigon and Thunder Bay tak- ing part in the double-elimina- tior. tournament. Once a team lost twice, they were eliminated from further competition. After some heavy competi- tion, the Marathon Moose came in fourth, and Tech Corona, also from Marathon took third place. This set up the championship match between the undefeated Stompers, and Crimestoppers, who had one loss. If the Stompers won the game, they were champions, if Crimestoppers won, they would force another game, winner take all. Crimestoppers jumped out to an early lead, at one point they lead by a score of 7-1. Crimestoppers came into the championship round down one game. By playing hard in the first game, they Stompers refused to give up, eventually defeated Stompers, forcing a winner-take-all final, which they also won, taking the championship and battled back to within three runs. Crimestoppers kept up the pressure though, forging ahead to 10-4 at the top of the fifth inning.
