Continued from page 5 ing to prepare the Dec. 20th edi- tion of the NEWS, the Jan. 3 and the Jan. 10 editions of the NEWS. I worked through the Holidays as we were short staffed. I am sorry that Mr. St. Amand did not get to see a panoramic set of pictures of the school gym in the paper. That may have satis- fied him as it would have taken four or five pages to show all the children, teachers and parents. Perhaps if Mr. St. Amand owned a newspaper he could afford the space and then we would see everything that he wishes to con- vey. Many times when people attcmpt to organize an event they build expectations to align their vuals. If these expectations are not met they blame others instead of appreciating their accomplish- ment or defeat. What disapoints me is that a grade seven teacher and town Local Terrace Bay Brownies s Lack of research leads to an "FE" councillor DID NOT communi- cate to the NEWS what exactly it was that he wishcd us to do. We are busy scrvicirig the community and a little help (until we learn to read minds) with information may have stopped such a disaster from having occurred. I hope that the grade seven students and people of our com- munity who are reading this response receive communications from Mr. St. Amand as we have not yet received any, except for his public letter of dis apointment and unresearched criticism. I hope that the grade seven Students and people of our com- munity have noticed that if Mr. St. Amand had done a little homework, research.and commu- nicating he may have prepared us to do what he had expected of us. I give Mr. St. Amand an "F" on homework, research and communication. pend an evening out at After strenuous skating (hey were served hot The regular mccting of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Womens League was held Monday, January 8th. (Canada's Largest Independent Investment Fund Distributor) WELCOMES Mr. D'arcy Wilson 438 Fort Garry Road P.O. Box 656 Terrace Bay, Ontario POT 2W0 (807) 825-3708 To the Regal Team of professional financial planners for the TERRACE BAY, SCHREIBER and MARATHON areas. Sponsored by A) a ») | DYNAMIC FUND MANACEMENT PUBLIC NOTICE This notice is to inform the general public that Recreation Memberships are now due. Council and the Recreation Committee have reviewed the membership fees and have reluctantly decided an increase in fecs is required to keep pace with rising costs. Our goal is to continue to offer the best recreation programs and facilities. ; Membership fees have not increased since January, 1984. In the meantime, costs for supplies, electricity, equipment, salaries, benefits, etc. have been steadily increasing. In order to maintain our recreation pro- grams and facilities, it has been nccessary to pay these increased costs out of our general tax revenues. Since all our residents do not use our recreation facilities, we do not feel it is fair to only use taxes to pay for recreation costs. We believe it is fair to have the users of the facilities share some of this burden by increasing memberships and rental 1.ilcs. One other change is being made at this time as well. We feel that membership fees should run from May Ist to April 30th, rather than the present calender ycar basis. January |st comes in the middle of scvcral major sports scasons, which creates some problems for us and for user groups regarding who is or is not a recreation meniber. We feel May 1st should be better for everyone concerned. In order to make this datc change, we are asking you to pay membership fecs for 16 months this one time only, for the period January 1, 1990 to April 30, 1991. . The Township has tried to keep the increases as low as possible. The new fees are as follows: 1. Family Membership - $96.00 Note: This is $6.00 per month for 16 months. The old fee was $5.00 per month. 2. Single Membership - $60.00 3. Membership for non-residents or non-property owners - $110.00 Family, $70.00 Single Single activity men:berships and non-resident short-term memberships are also available: The cost varies with the type of activity. Anyone who has al:cady paid their 1990 membership at the old rate wili have until December 31, 1990 to pay the balance of ue new rate. Other fees and rental rates have been increased by an average of 10%. New members should purchase memberships at the Recreation Office: for previous members, cheques payable to Terrace Bay Recreation Department may be mailed to the Terrace Bay Recreation Office, P. ©. Box 460, Terrace Bay. For more information, please contact the Recreation Office at 825-3542. Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation. Dean Main Recreation Co-ordinator
