DAG told of dog service President Shirley Mikus wel- comed members and guests to the meeting of Disability Action Group (DAG) held October 20 in the McCausland Hospital lobby. It was particularly gratifying to have Councillor Jim Zeigler attend this meeting to offer many suggestions and to listen to problems. Describing some of the progress with accessibility, com- mittee members Alma Hart and Dorothy Plourde were asked to enquire of similar problems in Schreiber. Schreiber Council had mentioned having a spray bomb to spray a line of paint on cement steps.Members involved offered choices of colours and decided upon Hunter's Orarnge if this device is available. The resignation of Russ Stevens as Resource Information Chairman was accepted with much regret. It was reported that Communi- ty Resource Worker Gary Turcotte has completed a needs survey regarding Tele-Aid in this area. A meeting will be arranged to com- pare studies with those currently underway by DAG for Lifeline. DAG has some funds designated for Lifeline and planning other projects. Social convenor Dorothy Kenny introduced the guest speak- er for the evening, Alice Scott, representing Galaxy Kennels. With pet therapy as her topic, Alice held her audience enrap- tured with a film showing the careful selection and gradual training of the dogs used for CCI - Canine Champions for Independ- ence. Shirley presented the current report for the Handitransit Com- mittee and answered Jim Zeigler's questions about the subject.
