Birchwood Briefs It has been quite a while since pen was put to paper on our many happenings at Birch- wood. It has been a glad year but also a sad one. We said goodbye to 10 of our residents who had made Birchwood home, for many years. Their varied personalities and faces are sadly missed and their passing has left quite a gap in our lives. Eva Dolter - Clem Downey - Larry Stolar- chux - Jum Trabish - Sam Kozio - Andrew Timko - Joham Monsson - Cecille. Bouchard - Mary Bell (Pinewood) and last week, Adele Montey. The fantastic summer we all enjoyed, with outings, every week pic- nics, Bar-B-Q's from Neys Park to Rossport and all the little parks and lakes in between. A summer to remember - socks and shoes off, wading in Lake Super- ior. We celebrated each month the birthdays - al- ways a lovely cake from the kitchen, beautifully decorated. We made our own banana splits and sundaes and gifts from our Ladies Auxiliary. We had a presenta- tion of trophies for our Under 100 Bowling League. The picture showing the trophies won, were donated, and Stew and Marion Reid gave time and talents and engraved the tro- phies for us as a gift to Birchwood. We thank them very much for making it possible, as our budget this year has been rather tight and the extras that mean so much, such as the tro- phies, would not have been possible. So a big thank you to everyone who made this event possible. The greenhouse and garden did well. The grounds have never looked so pretty. Our new resident, Michael, kept the lawns looking good with Stewart An- derson and Werner Zeigler manning the hoses which was a valu- able and time consum- ing job. We had 60 Ibs. of tomatoes, sold boxes of plants with the help and guidance of Flora Bryson and John Steen, seeding planting and potting and replanting. We had so many toma- to plants that we ended continued on page 9 his sister, MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENT Joe and Mary Clare Kennedy are pleased to announce the marriage of their son RICHARD to SUI WON in Vancouver, B.C. on Sept. 17, 1983 The wedding ceremony was held in the home of Lynda Kennedy.
