PRESS RELEASE One Ski-Doo driver was charged this past week, for failing to stop at a stop sign and one alleged theft was reported and later learned to be unfounded. On the: 'traffic scene there were four motor vehicle collisions investigated which resulted in approximate- ly $1,930.00 damage. There were seven warnings issued for minor Highway, Traffic Act infractions and defective equipment and one charge laid under the Highway Traffic Act. SNOW FESTIVAL PLANNED BY KOOL KATS The Schreiber Snow Mobile Club the 'Koo! Kais* held their regular meeting last Wednesday with 46 members attending. During business a report on the preparations for the forthcoming Winter Festival " "Zzzing in the Snow" was received. Much interest has been show by members of the community in this event and many organizations have indicated their support. The program for the weekend of February 13-15 was outlined by Festival Chairman, Mr. Prinselaar, Each committee responsible for particular facets brought in their progress report which indicates that a full and varied program can be expected. An executive meeting was called for Saturday January 17th at which time the races, categories and special events were discussed and finalized. Events for the weekend will include races for all ages and fun and games for the entire family. Through the courtesy and co-operation of the Lake Superior School Board and the Separate School of 'Schreiber facilities will be available for spectator comfort and display area. A fish derby will be held on Sunday February 15th for those who do not wish to participate in the cross country snow mobile race . The congregation was informed about the first steps which have been taken in connection with a | proposed lay council which may be constituted by interested laymen from the congregations from Nip- igon to Manitouwadge. The purpose of the council will be to provide a forum for lay people to discuss issues of the church and community; to seek ways and means by which closer co-operation ana a more effective use of congregational resources can be ef- fected. : Letters have been forwarded to the various church Boards and it is hoped that a first meeting might be held in the first part of the year. d A motion of thanks to the executive and members of the Board concluded a most pleasant meeting.
