The two students in the picture above, who benefitted during the past simmer, are sharing their experiences with us. GRAND PRAIRIE This year | was chosen to travel to Grand Prairie, Alberta, to represent Schreiber High School. The trip was sponsored by the Federal-Provincial Govern- ment and everything was supplied but our spending money . The Voyageurs (as we 24 students from Northwestern Ontario were called) met in Port Arthur on August 11 for departure at 8.30 a.m. Three days later we artived at our destination. Grand Prairie was a city with a population of 12,000 people, and the main industry was the ply- wood factory. During our six-day stay in the city, we visited various industries sites, stations (radar, hydro, and ranger) and dams of the area. We also had a 4-hour boat ride on the beautiful Peace River. On August 21 we arrived home, happy but tired. The trip to Grand Prairie was an enlightening exper- ience, and taught us all to be more aware of our thriving, growing country. It was, indeed, an exper- ience which none of the Voyageurs will ever forget. In closing, | would like to say "Thank You" to all those responsible for my trip. Kristine Chepelsky.
