COLUMN RECIPE OF THE WEEK TUNA BAKE WITH CHEESE SWIRLS A tasty casserole topped with chesse flavoured biscuit swirls, 3 tablespoons chopped onions 1/3 cup diced green pepper 3 tablespoons butter or margarine 1/2 cup. flour ie teaspoon salt 1-1/4 cups condensed chicken broth 1-1/2 cups milk 2 cups (2 small cans) tuna fish, flaked 1 tablespoon lemon juice Cheese Biscuit Tupping: 1/2 cup ready-to-eat bran 3/4 cup milk 1-1/2 cups sifted bread flour 3 Teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt if3 cup shortening 2/3 cup grated cheddar cheese Cook onions and pepper in heated butter about 3 minutes, Stir in flour and salt. until thickened. Fold in tuna and lemon juice. Transfer to 1 1/2-quart casserole and: top with cheese biscuit swirls, To make topping, combine bran and milk and let stand until all moisture is taken up, Sift flour, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal, Add soaked bran and stir only until combined to make a soft biscuit dough, (Cont. on next col.) Roll into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick, Sprinkle with cheese. Roll like a jelly roll, sealing edges. Cut in 1/2-inch slices, Place cut sides up and down on hot tuna mixture. Mrs, H, Atwill arrived from Montreai. last Friday to visit for two weeks with her niece June Schritt and family, Kae and Bill Louk, along with Bill's father, returned Sunday from their vaca- tion in California visiting with Bill's sister, Mrs. L. V. Loughnane of Los Angeles, California, also sight-seeing in Las Vagas, Palm Springs and San Francisco, : Mrs, Paul Sernesky of Port Arthur with grandson Ronny spent the weekend with son Bill Sernesky. Alex Chisholm, Ted Brown and Pete Romaniuk spent the past week in Dryden, attending the Ontario and Manitoba Council of Pulp and Paper Mill Union Bighth Annual Convention, Mr, Angus Cockburn of Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, who had been attending the Conference in Dryden, stopped off to visit with his sister Lois Hopper for the weekend, Mrs. E, Montey of Eagle River spent a few days last week visiting her daughter, Marg Larson, Elsie Berndtsson and Doris Gerlach, (Cont, on page 5)
