Schreiber Mimor Ball: This year the Recreation Depart- ments of Schreiber and Terrace Bay are trying to organize a longer and more comprehensive Minor Ball program. The two leagues will be organized into the same age groups and we will try to offer an inter- locking schedule. The following is a list of the age classifications: T-Ball - Mixed - 5-7 years; Junior Nationals - Boys - 8-12 years; Senior Nationals - Boys - 13-16 - Fastball; Junior Cana- dians - Girls - 8-12; Senior Canadians - Girls - 8-12; Senior Expos - Boys - 13-16 - Baseball. Registrations were handed out at the schools. If your child did not bring one home they can be obtained from the office. Registration, deadline is Friday, May 31st. Play will com- mence on June 10th. Coaches and umpires are urgently needed in order for the children to have a successful sum- mer ball program. If you are interested in helping out please contact the Recreation Office at 824- 2317. North Shore Recreation Directors Fun Run/ Walk: If you have been reading the Recreation News in the local paper, you will no doubt be continued from page 9 upkeep of equipment. McMahon found that it took a long period of time for her to learn all areas of the job, but now she is quite confident of her duties. At the end of her OCAP training McMahon is going to be hired on at the Operations Base. For young entrepreneurs who wish to plan and operate their own businesses, Youth Enterprise offers interest-free loans of up to $5,000. '*The Pampered Pet", a grooming salon located in Thunder Bay, was started with a Youth Venture Capital loan. Sandra Hay, owner and _ operator, received a $5,000 one year interest-free loan. With this money she was able to complete the interior con- struction of the shop, and purchase some much need- ed equipment. According to Hay, the $5,000 loan really helped get her aware that this years Walk has been schedul- ed for Monday, May 27th. A number of chal- lenges have been made by Terrace Bay groups to Schreiber organiza- tions. It is up to the people of Schreiber to answer these challenges and prove to the other North Shore communi- ties that Schreiber truly is a town with a spirit that can be matched by none. In a recent article in the local paper it was stated that Terrace Bay would have to buy up Schreiber's leftover participation buttons! It is up to all Schreiber res- idents to ensure that there will not be any buttons left over for Ter- race Bay. The walk will start at the High School Ball! Park at 7 p.m. sharp. Registrations will be held there from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. All we ask is that you come and walk the 1 mile course' and bring your family. Let's prove to Terrace Bay that they can't count us out. Fun Walk Challenges: Some local organizations have issued challenges. If your group wishes to challenge another call the Recreation Office at 824-2317 and we will publish it in the paper and have it placed on this community events station. The North Shore Director's Fun Run challenge is slated for May 27th from 7 to 9 p.m. Terrace Bay is out to double their participa- tion. We need your help in order to do this. 1000 people is our goal! Why not challenge another group to walk and see how many you can get in- terested in this fun event. Mothers can get Dads out to walk. Teams challenge each other to run and keep in shape. Don't forget there are prizes for youngest, oldest, groups or class with largest par- ticipation. Largest organization, Club, Team Award. The Township of Terrace Bay Personnel and _ the Recreation Department staff are issuing a challenge to the Ministry of Natural Resources. See separate ad elsewhere in this newspaper. Rally to Squash: What is Rally to Squash? Rally to Squash is a one day ac- tion packed event. It is a day on which we will open our Squash courts to members free of charge. Invite a friend or newcomer to come out for a game.
